I sincerely hope that nobody from BLAGUES-L, or relatives and friends of subscribers, were in the neighborhood of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, or even in one of the planes at the time these events occured. The unspeakable horror of yesterday's events has shocked absolutely everyone, and I can't help but wonder where the world goes from here... I was in Manhattan three times during the last 5 years, most recently in June, where I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge by foot, and stopped to admire the view of the financial district from Brooklyn Heights. It's so unbelievable to think that this gorgeous skyline is now so dramatically altered. If anyone from the list is personally related to victims of this tragedy, I can only express my sincere condolances. My thoughts go to you all. Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice. After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, "What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you're out of the office?" "I give it to them," replied the lawyer, "and then I send them a bill." The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try. The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills. When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.
